AROUND THE EXHIBITION: Badger Meter

At WEFTEC 2025, Badger Meter spotlighted how its 120-year-old company continues to evolve — moving beyond a traditional hardware manufacturer into a digital water solutions provider. Matt Stuyvenberg, Vice President – SaaS, Global Commercial, and International Utility, described how this transformation is coming to life under BlueEdge™, a comprehensive umbrella for the company’s solutions.

Stuyvenberg shared that in Badger Meter’s 20-plus years of exhibiting at WEFTEC, its portfolio has expanded significantly. While the company’s roots remain in metering technologies like ModMag® and Recordall®, recent acquisitions — including SmartCover® in January 2025 — have extended their reach into wastewater and collection system monitoring. This broadened focus reflects the industry’s growing need for integrated, digital approaches.

“BlueEdge™ is really the umbrella over our products and solutions,” Stuyvenberg explained. “It helps take that customer on a journey of how we can go from source to tap to treatment with any number of different sensors and technologies, and get that data back for decision support all the way through the water cycle.”

At WEFTEC, Badger Meter’s booth showcased these applications through panels that illustrated how sensors, communications, and software work together across every stage of water management. Stuyvenberg emphasized that partnership with utilities and customers is central: beginning with understanding their challenges and then tailoring Badger Meter’s portfolio — sometimes even developing customized solutions — to meet those needs.

With BlueEdge™, Badger Meter is not only consolidating its diverse technologies but also creating a framework for future innovation. As Stuyvenberg summarized, the company’s mission is to equip utilities with actionable data and decision support tools that strengthen water networks worldwide.
