What is a “tweet”? Tweet refers to an individual message sent via Twitter: I just sent my first tweet! Tweet can also be used as a verb to describe the act of sending the message: I tweeted for the first time!
What is a “hashtag”? A hashtag is a short identifier added to a tweet. It allows for quick reference and searches. In the case of WEFTEC, anybody tweeting from the conference is using #WEFTEC to let all their followers know where they are and what they are up to at the conference: I am tweeting from the show floor at #WEFTEC.

How do I add a link? Most links are longer than 140 characters. To solve this problem there are numerous URL shortening services, such as bit.ly, ow.ly, tinyurl.com . WEF does not endorse any particular shortening service.
How do I forward or reply to someone’s tweet? To forward a tweet is also known as retweeting and can be indicated by adding “RT” at the beginning of the forwarded tweet. It is also important to credit the source by including their twitter name. When you add someone’s twitter name always use this format: @twittername.
To reply to someone on twitter, simply add their twitter name to your reply. For instance, you could reply to WEF with: @WEForg I learned about sustainable utilities at #WEFTEC.
How do I fit my thought into 140 characters? If you are having trouble fitting your thought into 140 characters, it is common practice to break the thought into multiple tweets.
