WEF Community Service Project

Saturday, September 26th
Pershing Magnet School | 3200 South Calumet Ave

Bus DEPARTS at 8:30 am from the WEFTEC HQ Hotel

The 8th annual WEF Community Service Project, organized by the WEF Students & Young Professionals Committee (SYPC) offers WEFTEC attendees the opportunity to give back to Chicago.  This year's project, held at Pershing Magnet School in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood will consist of constructing a rain garden as well as a learning garden that will serve as an educational tool for Pershing teachers to further understanding for the school's K-8 students on water, the environment, and green infrastructure.  The project is free to all volunteers as well as receiving transportation to and from the site, a t-shirt, lunch, and WEF Community Service Project ribbon for your WEFTEC badge.   Registration for the service project is free and open to all WEFTEC attendees and their guests.  We look to have over 100 volunteers help make a positive impact on the local water environment of  Chicago.  As part of WEF's mission to increase public awareness on water related subjects, the SYPC will also be organizing Water Palooza event to be held on Friday, Sept 25 at a local elementary school.  This event brings together water conscious organizations and companies to educate school age children in the community about the value of water through hands-on and demonstrative activities.

Funding for the service project is provided entirely by donations - both monetary and material donations are welcomed. Please contact Tim Moran to donate materials and Dianne Crilley for monetary donations.  Join WEF in committing to civic outreach and sustainability and ultimately making an immediate impact on our host city, Chicago!
