A set amount of rooms available for students at the Best Western Grant Park at $139.00 + tax per night.  To get this rate, students must make their reservation by calling WEFTEC Housing at (888) 301-4933 or at (415) 979-2298, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  Be sure to tell the Customer Care representative that you are booking through the WEFTEC VIP hotel block for Students at the Best Western Grant Park.

Student Lounge

The “University Student Lounge” is sponsored by environmental companies participating in the WEFTEC.08 Students & Young Professionals Networking and Career Fair. Complimentary light lunch and refreshments are provided Sunday, Oct. 19 – Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 11:45 am – 1:00 pm.  The lounge offers students their own place to meet with fellow students and develop life long friendships.


Design Competition

Sunday, October 19
12:30 - 4:00 pm

Member Associations proudly select their best Student Chapter Design Team to participate in this annual WEFTEC Design Competition.  Through sponsorship of this event, prizes, awards, and recognition will be presented to the top four winning teams.  The winning team will be recognized at the WEFTEC Awards ceremony. If you are interested in competing, please contact Michelle Hanson hansonmm@cdm.com by July1.  Competing teams will be announced after July 1.  


Student Chapter Annual Meeting

Monday, October 20 
10:30 - 12:00 Noon

Over 30+ attended this meeting to include Student Chapter Officers from the 76 WEF Student Chapters,  academic advisors, and Member Association Leaders. This meeting is held annually at WEFTEC, providing a forum to share ideas and programs.

Students and Young Professionals Networking and Career Fair

Monday, October 20
1:00 - 4:00 pm

The Career Fair offers an opportunity to expand the student’s knowledge of the water quality industry and to acquire better interviewing skills. Top environmental firms from the U.S./Canada will be on hand to meet informally with students and also pre-schedule interviewing opportunities.

A list of companies participating in the 2008 Career Fair will be coming soon.

Black & Veatch Professor Student Appreciation Reception
This annual reception hosted by Black & Veatch offers an interesting evening of networking and fun for students! Location and time TBA.

WEF Young Professionals Reception

Young Professionals (YPs) are invited to join the WEF Students and Young Professionals Committee (SYPC) as they celebrated young professionals at local hotspot. Close to 300 attended this event last year, enjoying food, drinks, give-aways, and music. This event is offered through sponsorship of many companies.  Location and time TBA.
